The state will pay you back for impact windows
Florida is refunding sales tax on storm hardening, and the word refund is the important part. You pay the tax at the register, then claim it back later. Impact-resistant windows, doors, and garage doors bought between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2029 qualify. They have to be installed on eligible residential property. The home has to be site-built, carry a Florida homestead exemption, and have a just value of $700,000 or less. One property per owner, and the refund tops out at $500. Claims go to the state between July 1, 2026 and Sept. 30, 2029, with the required forms and your receipts. Keep them.
